Marte And Black Grab All-Region XV Second Team Accolades; Jarrett Lands On All-Region XV Sportsmanship Team

New York, New York – For the first time in four seasons, the BMCC men's basketball program landed two players on the NJCAA Region XV All-Region Team as freshman Khalil Black (Queens, New York) and sophomore Ysaia Marte (Bronx, New York) received All-Region XV Second Team honors, while upperclassman Jayden Jarrett (Bronx, New York) landed on the All-Region 15 sportsmanship team.   

The Panthers had two players get All-Region XV recognition for the first time since the 2019-2020 season when Terrance McBride (Brooklyn, New York) and Malik Bentinck picked up All-Region XV Second Team and Honorable Mention honors. 

Black continues to rack up the awards, becoming the first Panther player in seven seasons to receive Conference Rookie of the Year accolades since Terrell Fullerton received it in 2016-2017. Black also got a CUNYAC All-Star nod alongside Marte, who garnered his second straight Conference All-Star honorJarrett landed on the CUNYAC Sportsmanship team.
 
The Queens, New York native burst on the scene during his first season at 199 Chambers Street and put together an excellent second half to the seasonleading the Panthers with 57 three-pointers made, which is eighth most in a single season and ninth all-time in program history. Black has buried two or more treys 18 times in 27 appearances this season, with a career-high six three-pointers coming against Suffolk Community College on February 3, 2024.
 
The four-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week winner was also second on the Panthers in total points (407), scoring average (15.1), field goals made(139), field goal attempted (343), free throws made (72), free throws attempted (96), and steals (36)Black is second on BMCC this year with 21 double-figure games, including 18 in his last 19 contests and five 20-point games. Black averaged 20 points per game during the 2024 CUNYAC Community College Men's Basketball Tournament, dropping a game-high 24 points on a game-best 8-for-17 from the field (47.1 percent) with a team-high four three-pointers in a win over Queensborough Community College in the semifinals and scoring 16 points in the Conference Championship game against Hostos Community College en route to a 2024 CUNYAC Community College Championship All-Tournament selection.

Black 
is the seventh player in school history to post 400 points in a season and registered a career-high 33 points against Suffolk Community College on February 3, 2024.
 
Marte answered the bell every time his name was called during the 2023-2024 season as the Panther's go-to player, leading the Panthers in eight statistical categories with 495 points, 19 points per game, 192 field goals made, 343 field goals attempted, 56 percent field goal percentage, 98 free throws made, 122 free throws attempted, and 57 steals which were also all new career-bests.
 
The five-time CUNYAC Honorable Mention winner filled it up this season, moving into second all-time in program history with 771 career points while putting up a team-high 23 double-figure games, eight 20-point and two 30-point scoring performances along with the program's first 40 point game in five seasons with a career-high 42 points during a 91-76 victory against Kingsborough Community College on November 28, 2023Marte's 495 points this season are also the sixth most in a single season. The Harry S. Truman High School product averaged 17 points per game and four assists per game with 20 points during a 68-62 victory in the semifinals against Queensborough Community College on February 14, 2024, earning him a spot on the 2024 CUNYAC Community Men's Basketball All-Tournament team.
 
The Bronx, New York native also became the program's all-time leader in steals with 101 passing Ariel Joseph during a 63-57 defeat of NJCAA Division III No. 14 nationally ranked Dutchess Community College and currently has 109 steals for his career and his team-leading 57 steals this season are also currently sixth most in a single seasonMarte, a 2024 CUNYAC Community College Championship All-Tournament selection, is also the 19th Player in School History To Record 100 Career Assists.
 
Jarrett made his presence known in the paint this season for the Panthers, registering season-highs in 10 different categories, ranking second in rebounds with 232, rebounding average at 8.6 boards per game, blocks with 24 blocks, field goal percentage at 56.2 percent, and his 319 points, 11.8 points per game, 136 field goals made, 331 field goals attempts, 47 free throws made, 88 free throws attempted being good for third. He also dished out 38 assists and had 22 steals, also a career-best during the 2023-2024 campaign.
 
The Bronx, New York native and CUNYAC Weekly Honor Roll honoree posted a team-high tied eight double-doubles, including three in his last four games after the 2024 CUNYAC Championship game, along with 15 double-figure games and four 20-point scoring efforts with a career-high 27 points against Rockland Community College on December 14, 2023, and game-high 23 points in the Conference Championship against Hostos Community College.
 
The Mt. Saint Michael Academy product is fifth all-time in program history in career rebounds with 394 and six from being the program's third-ever player with 400 career rebounds while being the 10th player in school history after Friday night title game to record 500 career points and stands 15th all-time in career points with 503. Jarrett also is 10th all-time in blocks with 46
