Updates to navbar in Brightspace

  • News

We have been working with an advisory group of faculty and staff to develop a default navbar for BMCC courses. This navbar has been applied to courses that were migrated from Blackboard to Brightspace and will be the default for all newly created courses going forward (other than “practice courses” created by instructors). You still have the ability to edit the navbar for your courses, if desired. Note: If you have already edited the navbar for your migrated courses, the default BMCC navbar will not be applied to those courses. If you wish to use the default BMCC navbar, you can manually apply it to your courses.

Brightspace training for faculty will continue throughout the spring, summer, and beyond. Current opportunities include:

  • CUNY Spring 2024 training for instructors: This CUNY-hosted training series includes webinars on Getting Started with Brightspace; ABCs of Content; Engaging Learners; Assessing Learning; and Ask Me Anything. View the training schedule and register for sessions here on the CUNY Brightspace site.
  • BMCC Brightspace Q&A Sessions on Zoom, Every Friday at 10:00am. We’ll introduce the session in the main room, then break into smaller groups in facilitated breakout rooms based on your experience with Brightspace so far and what you are most interested in working on. The sessions will be Q&A focused, so bring your questions! Register here.
  • Drop-in support for Brightspace on Zoom. CETLS/Digital Education Faculty Hours take place every Tuesday (10 am – 11:30 am), Wednesday (12:30 pm – 2 pm), and Thursday (1 pm – 2:30 pm). We’ll have at least one breakout room dedicated to working on Brightspace in small groups together with a learning experience designer. Sign up with this form.

We are continuing to add resources to our Faculty Resources on our Brightspace Transition at BMCC website at https://www.bmcc.cuny.edu/brightspace and are in the process of developing an asynchronous training course for faculty.

Please email us at lmstransition@bmcc.cuny.edu if you have any questions.
