Three Times Is A Charm! Kennedy Grabs Third Straight CUNYAC Community College Women's Basketball Player Of The Week Honor

New York, New York – After being the model of consistency with another big-time week featuring her third double in four games, two 20-point performances, and averaging 19.7 points per game, 10.7 rebounds per game, 6.7 assists per game, and 48.7 percent shooting (20-of-41), BMCC women's basketball sophomore guard Emily Kennedy (Brooklyn, New York) was named CUNYAC Community College Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the third straight time. Kennedy has collected four Conference Player honors and six weekly conference accolades this season.
 
The Brooklyn, New York native kicked off her week with her triple-double in her last four contests during a 79-53 victory over Queensborough Community College, posting a team-high 23 points while dishing out a game and career-high 11 assists and grabbing 11 boards, the 11th coming with seven seconds left. Kennedy also led the Panthers on defense with a game-high six steals in the contest.
 
Kennedy followed it up with back-to-back 20-point games against Dutchess Community College two days later, putting up her team-leading 10th double-double of the season and ninth 20-point scoring performance with a game-high 21 points, 15 points coming in the second half, and 16 rebounds, which was also a career-high. Kennedy also handed out a team-high two assists.
 
Over the weekend, Kennedy was one of three players in double figures, scoring 15 points as the Panthers picked up a major Region 15 road win 66-39 against Suffolk Community College. She put up her team-leading 19th double-figure game and her 31st straight dating back to the 2022-23 season.
 
Kennedy stands alone at third all-time in program history with 629 career points and seven points away from second all-time occupied by LaToya Steele, who currently has 636 career points. She is 81 points away from Fanta Sissoko's mark of 710 career points, which is the most in school history.
 
Kennedy's season-best 356 points are now the sixth-most in a single season, surpassing Demaris Andrews's 350 points from last season.
 
She also became the fourth player in program-history to hand out 100 assists in a single-season with a team and season-best 102 dimes this season. Kennedy is third all-time in program history with 143 career steals, fourth all-time in assists with 139, and tied for eighth in career rebounds with Aiyana Harris with 296 career steals.

The Benjamin Banneker Academy product is the Panthers top player leading the squad in 12 different categories in points (356), scoring average (19.8), field goals made (120), field goals attempted (261), free throws made (105), free throws attempted (162), rebounds (166), rebounding average (9.2), assists (95), assists per game (5.3), steals (88), and steals per game (4.9).
 
Kennedy also currently ranks in the top in six national statistical categories as she is second in the country with 93 stealstied third in the country with 5.7 assists per gamefourth in the nation with 5.2 steals per game, and sixth with 102 assists.
 
The Panthers will look to make it three straight CUNYAC victories tomorrow night against 10-time CUNYAC Champion and NJCAA Division III No. 12 nationally-ranked Hostos Community College on Tuesday, February 6 at 5:00 p.m. at the Swamp in the Bronx, New York.
