New York, New York – After leading all scorers with two 20-point games during the Panther's two contests last week, BMCC men's basketball sophomore guard Ysaia Marte (Bronx, New York) received CUNYAC Community College Honorable Mention accolades for the fourth time this season. Marte picks up the eighth Conference Weekly honor of his career.

Marte was the Panther's go-to player in both of their contests last week, posting back-to-back 20-point games and averaging 25.5 points per game, 4.5 assists per game, and four rebounds per game along with three steals. He has scored 20 points or more in three straight games while shooting 20-for-37 from the field (54.1 percent) and 10-for-12 from the line (83.3 percent) last week.

The Bronx, New York native got his week off to a great start, registering his second straight 20-point game with a team-high 25 points, 15 coming in the first half, and 10-for-19 from the field (52.6 percent) during the Panther's dominant 82-59 victory over CUNYAC opponent Laguardia Community College. He followed up that effort with his third straight 20-point game, dropping a team-best 26 points on 10-for-18 from the field (55.6 percent) against Nassau Community College on Saturday afternoon, which moved him into fifth all-time in school history in scoring with 653 career points, surpassing Joseph Ojo's career point total of 652.

The 2022-2023 CUNYAC All-Star has registered double figures, a team-best tied 16 times this season and 32 times total in his career and leads the Panthers in eight different categories in total points (377), scoring average (19.8), field goals made (150), field goals attempted (268), free throws made (67), free throws attempted (88), steals (46), and steals per game (2.4). His 377 total points and 19.8 points per game are season-bests

Marte also has knocked down double-digit field goals in three straight games and a team-best seven times this year. He also grabbed two or more steals 16 times in 19 games, and his 98 career steals are two away from tying for the all-time program record of 100 career steals with Ariel Joseph.

The Panthers will look for two straight conference wins when they host Queensborough Community College on Tuesday, January 30, at 7:30 p.m. at BMCC Gymnasium. For more information, visit the BMCC Men's Basketball Schedule Page.
