Bringing together business, education, and community leaders to equip New Yorkers for the future of work.

About us

The New York Jobs CEO Council is a results-oriented coalition led by the CEOs of some of New York’s largest employers collectively working to hire 100,000 low-income New Yorkers from predominantly Black, LatinX, and Asian communities by 2030, including 25,000 from the City University of New York (CUNY). Our member CEOs and partner organizations are collaborating to create new talent pipelines that meet evolving workforce needs and programs that prepare New Yorkers for the future of work. By bringing together business, education, and community leaders, we seek to 1) remove barriers to training and jobs 2) develop long-term stable career pathways 3) connect students and workers with in-demand skills

  • In honor of our apprentices completing their semester-long apprenticeship, we celebrated the hard work, determination, and drive they put into their roles with a trip to SUMMIT One Vanderbilt. We had apprentices placed in companies like Bloomberg, TD, Deloitte, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Wells Fargo, and American Express where they gained invaluable hands-on experience, skills, and corporate exposure to succeed in their career journey. Our mission is to continuously provide students with the resources needed to succeed in their roles. One of the ways we do this is by partnering with select The City University of New York 2-year colleges to develop work-based learning opportunities to support students in their transition into high-paying full-time roles. Thank you to our resilient apprentices for showing up and allowing us to celebrate you, TD professionals Shayla Alamino and Jocelyn Weyrauch for contributing to this unforgettable experience, and Miki T., who has been a gracious leader for our apprentices. Interested in becoming an apprentice? Find more info at: https://lnkd.in/egeQVdV3

Happy #AAPIHeritageMonth and happy spotlight day with one of our former Bloomberg apprentices! We are kicking off our student spotlights with Muhammad Subhan N., a soon-to-be graduate of Queensborough Community College of The City University of New York (CUNY) with an associate degree in Internet and Information Technology and a former apprentice at Bloomberg as a Network Engineer. Muhammad’s story begins in Pakistan where he grew up and recently immigrated to the U.S. four years ago. Since then, he has enrolled in college, working at Starbucks, and being the head of his household. During the Fall of 2023, he found an opportunity at Bloomberg through our apprenticeship program, working as a Network Engineer where he’s gaining value through experiential learning and networking with professionals. His future goals involve utilizing his experience to attend a four-year college and receive certifications to help him better understand his role as a network engineer.  Muhammad is passionate about his apprenticeship experience, which he calls “life-changing” and pushes his peers to see its value. On top of that, he advises his peers to create a LinkedIn presence, connect, seek out opportunities, and attend events.  #CUNYTalent #ApprenticeAppreciation

  • Our #tipstuesday is a gentle reminder on the proper post-interview and networking etiquette. 🖊 🗒 It's important to always follow up after an interview or networking session by sending a thank-you note. This gesture expresses gratitude for the time, knowledge, and enthusiasm they shared in connecting with you. Your thank you note should always include: 📩 An introduction to who you are 📩 A thank you for their time 📩 A key takeaway from your conversation and what they shared 📩 A call to action on how to stay connected. A thank you note is highly encouraged and shows your appreciation for the professional. #careerreadiness #postinterview #interviewfollowup #professionaldevelopment #careertips #interviewtips

  • #AAPIHeritageMonth Today we are spotlighting Ingrid Giordano, Managing Director & Head of Early Career Talent Acquisition and Program Management at Citi, as well as a CEO Delegate at the Jobs Council. She is proud to be the first of many Chinese Americans, and the first in her family to go to college.    “Embracing my identify as an Asian American started early as a child – I was often the only or one of a few Asians in my classes,” she says. “As I joined the workforce, I would experience being the only Asian on a team or group. I have learned embracing my cultural identity provides me a sense of confidence, pride, and resilience. It has helped to shape my career and how I thought about my career as a journey.”   In her current role at Citi, she is intentional about supporting early career talent and providing opportunities for growth and development. She provides mentorship to young women on her team and those she meets to think about their leadership legacies and says “you can learn a lot by listening and you can empower many when they feel their voices are heard.”   #AAPIMonth #celebratingAAPImonth

  • Shoutout to all our youth apprentices! This week we celebrated our youth apprentices who have been working hard to pave their future by creating invaluable experiences at their apprenticeship placements. On Tuesday, we held an event in partnership with CareerWise New York, moderated by our very own Degan Mercado Leopold, on a panel with professionals from JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Accenture to share insights, experiences, and best practices in implementing successful apprenticeship programs. Our mission is to connect young talent with the resources they need to navigate their career through the help of our member companies. Through youth apprenticeships, we are able to deliver career-connected learning that sets them on a path to success. Thank you again to CareerWise NY for partnering with us to drive this mission, to Kyla McNally and Rah Thomas for sharing your wisdom, and to our member companies who have hosted apprentices!

  • Apprentices in action! Yesterday we hosted a group of 10 apprentices from American Express, Bloomberg, Deloitte, JPMorgan Chase & Co., TD and Wells Fargo for a networking event at SUMMIT One Vanderbilt. 🌟

🏙️Yesterday I had the wonderful opportunity to take some of our 2023-2024 New York Jobs CEO Council college apprentices to SUMMIT One Vanderbilt. It was incredible to finally meet some of the apprentices I've been working with for the past year while seeing breathtaking views of my beloved New York. I got to hear about their experiences working at some of our member companies, and most importantly, they got to meet each other to understand that they are part of a much bigger cohort of trailbazers paving the way for skills-based hiring. Thank you to Jocelyn Weyrauch and Shayla Alamino from TD for joining us, and to Calvin Garcia and Niezum Ahmed for capturing content from this event! Be on the lookout for a Reel very soon on our socials 👀
