New York, New York – After posting the best week of his young career, scoring in double figures in all three games for the Panthers with 19.3 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game average with a career-high 23 points in a victory over Region 15 opponent Monroe-Bronx freshman guard Khalil Black (Queens, New York) picked up his first career CUNYAC Community College Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week honor as announced by the City of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC). Classmate Isah Mohammed (Lagos, Nigeria) also received the first Conference Weekly Honor of his career, being named Conference Honorable Mention.

Black had an outstanding week, leading the Panthers in scoring in two of their three contests last week. In the Panther's first game of the week against CUNYAC opponent Queensborough Community College, he dropped 16 points on 5-for-11 shooting with a career-high tied three three-pointers while going a perfect 3-for-3 at the line. He also contributed four assists, two rebounds, and a block.

The Queens, New York native had a career night last Thursday in Region 15 action against Monroe-Bronx, posting a career-best 23 points, with 12 of them coming in the first half on another career-high 8-for-14 shooting. He grabbed eight rebounds in the game and also went perfect at the line for a second straight game, going 5-for-5, knocking down two three-pointers, and snatching two steals as the Panthers defeated the Express 72-50 on the road for the first time in program history and for the first time since the 2019-20 season.

Against NJCAA Division III No. 7 nationally ranked Dutchess Community College, Black showed out connecting for his third straight double-figure game of the week and fourth straight dating back to a week ago with a team-high 19 points on 5-for-9 shooting to go along with a career-best three steals while going 7-for-8 at the line and registering two three points and three rebounds.

He currently leads the Panthers in four offensive categories in three-pointers made (11), three-pointers attempted (24), free throws made (26), and free throws attempted (29) while ranking second in points (87) and scoring average (14.5).

Mohammed continues to be a key force in the paint for the Panthers and helps them dictate their opponent's offensive attack game in and game out. The Lagos, Nigeria native averaged 16 rebounds per game, 9.7 points per game, 5.3 blocks per game, and five steals total during BMCC's three games last week.

After ripping down a game-high 14 rebounds and swatting away a game-high five shots last Tuesday against Queensborough Community College while chipping in with seven points, Mohammed would build on that momentum with career night on the glass ripping down a game-high 18 rebounds and tying a career-best with seven blocks in a 72-50 victory over Monroe-Bronx the Panthers first ever on the road in the series and first victory over the Express since the 2019-20 season. Mohammed just missed his second double of the season by one point with nine in the contest and contributed three steals in the contest.

Mohammed would post his fifth straight double-digit rebound game and team-leading fifth double-digit rebound performance, along with his second double-double of the season with 16 boards and 13 points against NJCAA Division III No. 7 Dutchess Community College over the weekend. He also shot a career-best 4-for-10 and snagged two steals in the contest.

Mohammed leads the Panthers in blocks (31), rebounds (87), and rebounds per game (14.5). He is also ranked in two categories nationally, ranking third with 4.8 blocks per game and tied fifth with 14.5 rebounds per game. He has registered five straight double-digit rebound games, tops on the team, and recorded three or more blocks in all six games.

The Panthers will look to bounce back with another stiff test tomorrow, Tuesday, November 21, against NJCAA Division II nationally ranked No. 15 Orange County Community College at 7 p.m. in Middletown, New York. The Colts, who went to the 2022-23 NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship Semifinals, have won 32 of their last 34 games coming into their matchup with the Panthers, the first one between the two squads since January 10, 2019.
