New York, New York – After averaging 26 points, eight steals, and eight assists in the Panthers' two games last week, sophomore Emily Kennedy (Brooklyn, New York) received her first career CUNYAC Community College Player of the Week honor. This is the sixth weekly conference accolade of her career after she was named a five-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week honoree.
 
The Brooklyn, New York native continues to play at a high level during 2023-24, scoring 26 points in BMCC's season-opening victory over Laguardia Community College, 79-74, in overtime. She also contributed nine assists and a career-best 12 steals.
 
Over the weekend, Kennedy scored 20 of her team-high 26 points in the first half while dishing out seven assists and registering seven boards and four assists in the Panther's home opener against Nassau Community College.
 
Kennedy currently leads BMCC in scoring average at 26 points per game to go along with a team-best 16 steals and 16 assists. The sophomore also ranks in the top ten in the country in three statistical categories, leading the nation in steals per game (8.0), ranking second in assists per game (8.0), and tied for sixth in scoring average (26.0).
 
She will look to help her team bounce back in CUNYAC action tomorrow, November 15, at 5:30 p.m., when they play Queensborough Community College at RFK Gymnasium in Bayside, New York. For more information, visit the BMCC Women's Basketball Schedule Page.
