Panthers Blast Broncos

New York, NY - The Panthers mens soccer team took to the field on Thursday afternoon in a CUNYAC matchup vs. the Broncos of Bronx Community College looking for their second straight win and to push their record above .500 overall.  BMCC got on the board early and often in the 1st half with goals coming from 3 different Panthers.  As Mouhamadou Ndiaye (Brooklyn, New York) got the scoring going in the 15th minute off a great pass from Mamadou Diallo (Conakry, Guinea).  The Panthers would find the back of the net 3 more times in the 1st half with goals coming from Mamadou Diallo and Niklas Filippi (New York, New York).   Niklas scored in both the 22nd and 30th minute, pushing BMCC to a 4-0 lead going into the break.  Niklas continued his strong play in the 2nd half, finding his third goal, and first career hat trick, with a goal in the 46th minute assisted by Carlos Auquilla (New York, New York).  The Panthers maintained the 5 goal lead until the 58th minute when the Broncos scored on a penalty kick that cut their deficit to 4 goals.  BMCC didn't relent after the goal by Bronx Community College, pushing their lead with goals in the 70th minute (scored by Niklas Filippi) and 83rd minute off the foot of Mamadou Diallo.  Niklas finished the game with an impressive 4 goals!  Both goalkeepers saw action for BMCC.  Sophomore Abdul Mumin Seidu (Bronx, New York) got the start and win while recording 3 saves and no goals.  Yahir Ramirez (Brooklyn, New York) registered 1 save while also allowing one goal on the Bronx penalty kick.  The Panthers ultimately maintained the 7-1 lead for the duration of the game and saw their record improve to (5-4 overall, 2-1 CUNYAC) in their final home game of the season.  BMCC will finish the regular season with 3 road games, the first of which is this Saturday, October 7th, when they travel to Valhalla, NY, to take on the Vikings of Westchester Community College in a match that has Region XV playoff seeding implications.
