New York, New York - An action packed Tuesday, saw the Panthers record a total of 3 victories! The day got started under the hot sun at Pier 40 as the BMCC Women's Soccer team took on the Wave of Kingsborough CC. Coming off an impressive 5-0 over QCC, BMCC continued their hot scoring with 6 first half goals in route to a 10-1 victory over the Wave. The Panthers were paced by
Nayely Garcia (Puebla, Mexico) and
Nathali Ocampo-Lopez (Quimbaya, Colombia) who each registered a hat-trick. Garcia also led the Panthers with 4 assists on the day. With the win, the Panthers improve to (2-2 Overall, 1-0 CUNYAC) and will look for more of the same when they return to the pitch on Saturday, October 7th, in Brooklyn, NY to once again take on Kingsborough CC.
Following the women's win, the BMCC Men's Soccer team was looking to return to their winning ways as they traveled to upstate New York to take on the Falcons of Dutchess Community College. The Panthers dominated the action for most of the game as they saw their lead balloon to 6-2 with just over 10 minutes remaining in the game. The Falcons attempted a last minute comeback as they netted 2 goals in the final ten minutes but the Panthers were able to hold on for a 6-4 victory in Poughkeepsie, NY. With the win, the Panthers snapped their 4-game losing streak and improved to (4-4 Overall, 1-1 CUNYAC) and will look to go above .500 on the season when they return to action on Thursday, October 5th, with match against CUNYAC rival Bronx Community College. The game will be played at Pier 40 with a 12:30pm start time.
Finally, in BMCC's third event of the day, the Women's Volleyball team traveled to the Bronx to take on the Broncos of Bronx Community College following a nine day layoff. BMCC got off to a strong start, taking the first two games by a score of 25-17 & 25-19. The Broncos fought back to win the 3rd game by a score of 25-18. In the 4th set, BMCC left no doubt as they put together their best performance of the night taking the 4th game by a score of 25-14 and taking the match 3-1 overall.
Sarah Sellami (Queens, New York) led the Panthers with 12 kills, while sophomore
Garyana Altidor (Queens, New York) led the team with 9 aces and 9 digs on the night. With the win , the Panthers improved to (3-5 overall, 3-2 CUNYAC) and will return to the volleyball court this Saturday when they travel to Suffern, NY, to take on Rockland CC and Westchester CC in a Region XV double dual.
