New York, New York – After an outstanding start to the 2023 season, the BMCC men's soccer team dominated the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) weekly awards, with sophomore Ademola Opesanwo (Lagos, Nigeria) receiving Player of the Week accolades and freshman Mamadou Diallo (Conakry, Guinea) grabbing Honorable Mention honors. Opesanwo earns Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career, while the Honorable Mention nod is the first for Diallo.

Opesanwo picked up where he left off in 2022, opening up with a five-point performance with a pair of goals, including the game-winner on a corner kick and an assist during a 5-0 victory over Region 15 opponent Rockland Community College, then followed it up with his team-leading third goal and second game-winner on the season in a 2-0 defeat of Monroe-Bronx for the first time since 2017. The Panthers are 2-0 for the first time since 2017, and the Nigerian native is tops on the team with eight points.

Diallo had an outstanding Panther debut, registering a game-high tied five points with a pair of goals and an assist in the Panther's season-opening victory over Rockland Community College 5-0 while putting up a team-high seven shots. The Conakry, Guinea native also fired a team-best seven shots during the Panther's 2-0 victory over Monroe-Bronx. He currently leads the Panthers with 14 shots and is also second with five points and two goals.

The Panthers are off to their best start since 2017 with dominant wins over Region 15 opponents Rockland Community College and Monroe-Bronx, sporting a balanced offense with four different goalscorers on the season and a defense allowing just eight shots in the first two matches. The Panthers are also outshooting their opponents overall 56-8.

The Panthers look to remain perfect in CUNYAC play as they head on the road tomorrow, September 12, to square off against Bronx Community College at 4 p.m. at Ohio Field. For more information, visit the BMCC Men's Soccer Schedule
