Four Panthers Finish Season Top 10 In Program History In Five Statistical Categories In Finale Against Express; Reyes Finishes Third All-Time In Hits and Steals

Bellerose, New York – The BMCC Baseball team was upended in their final Region 15 doubleheader of the season, 19-5 and 12-0, against Monroe-Bronx on Saturday afternoon at Padavan-Preller Complex. The Express improves to 29-19 (15-8 Region XV) with both victories, while the Panthers finish the season at 2-24 (2-22).

Sophomores Maxwell Jimenez (Dominican Republic) and Gerardo Galan Berihuete (Brooklyn, New York) and freshman Peter Rodriguez Reyes (Bronx, New York) led the offense for the Panthers with a team-best two hits each, with Rodriguez-Reyes racking up his fifth multi-hit game of the season and fourth two-hit game of the year. Jimenez put up his third multi-hit game of the season and Berihuete his first of the year. The Panthers tore it up on the base paths as sophomore Frank Reyes (Brooklyn, New York) led the way with a game-high tied four steals while freshman Luis Ramirez (Brooklyn, New York) had two and Rodriguez-Reyes had one. Reyes concluded his Panther career third all-time in steals with 29 for his career.
 
Underclassman Nicholas Mattera (Moorpark, California) also ripped a double, and Reyes had a hit in the contest. Mattera's sixth double of the season moved him into the seventh all-time program, and his mark is the third most in a single season

David Pena picked up his fourth win of the season, allowing three hits and two runs over three innings, striking out two. Dolah took the loss for BMCC, lasting three innings, allowing nine hits and 14 runs while striking out one. Dolah also finishes his career on the hill, tied for ninth all-time in program history with 25 career strikeouts.

Sophomore Frank Reyes (Brooklyn, New York) joined freshman Jeffrey Roldan (New York, New York) and Nicholas Mattera (Moorpark, California) with one hit each as the Express them down with an outstanding pitching performance by Emmanuel Aviles who threw five scoreless innings and striking out seven batters while allowing three hits and walking zero.

Mattera took the loss for the Panthers, giving up ten runs on eight hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three. Mattera put up an outstanding debut season on the mound for the Panthers in 2023, fanning a team-best 31 batters, which is third most in a single season and sixth all-time in program history.

Three of the six Panthers sophomores etched their name into the top ten in all-time program history, with Reyes moving into third all-time in school history with 45 career hitsDolah concluded his season tied for fourth with 43 career hits, and Maxwell Jimenez (Dominican Republic) eighth all-time with 32 career hits. 

Mattera drove in 15 RBIs this season which was third on the team and sixth most in a single season, while Reyes finished the season with 22 RBIs, the third most in a single season, and tied fourth all-time with Dolah with 26 career RBIs.
