President Anthony E. Munroe and University at Albany President Havidán Rodríguez

BMCC and University at Albany Launch Dual Admission Program
On January 8, BMCC President Anthony E. Munroe and University at Albany President Havidán Rodríguez signed a partnership agreement that will enable BMCC graduates to seamlessly transfer to UAlbany and enter a bachelor’s degree program. The opportunity for BMCC graduates to earn a transfer scholarship to UAlbany is part of the agreement. Dual admit students who complete their BMCC degree requirements with a GPA of 3.0 or higher will be guaranteed a UAlbany Transfer Merit Scholarship. They also will be assigned a UAlbany transfer transition peer mentor who will assist them prior to their arrival on campus.


Nursing Program

BMCC Celebrates 74 Graduates of Nursing Program at 2024 Pinning Ceremony
BMCC celebrated 74 graduates from the Nursing program’s Class of 2024 during a pinning ceremony January 3 in Theatre One at 199 Chambers Street. In the weeks to come, they will sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). Upon passing the rigorous test, the graduates will be in high demand on the local job market. New York is projected to face a shortage of nearly 40,000 registered nurses by 2030 according to a report from the New York State Department of Health.


Michelle Hernandez AVP of Communications, Marketing and External Affairs Michelle Hernandez joins Office of Public Affairs
Assistant Vice President of Communications, Marketing and External Affairs Michelle Hernandez has joined the Office of Public Affairs at BMCC as of December 2023. AVP Hernandez grew up in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, and still lives there today. "One of the things about BMCC that initially appealed to me is its central location in New York City,” she says. “The robust academic and research  programs, workforce partnerships that enable students to get hands-on corporate experience, and articulation agreements with many prestigious colleges and universities, all send a clear message that the College is thriving.”

Johanna Graedler Art History Grad Wins $62K to Attend Mount Holyoke College
Art Foundations/Art History 2023 alumna Johanna Graedler has been awarded a $62,000 scholarship through the Frances Perkins Program at Mount Holyoke College, one of the prestigious Seven Sisters liberal arts colleges in South Hadley, Massachusetts. “I couldn’t have gotten this far without the support of my Art Professors Maya Jiménez and Yan Yang, as well as my parents,” says Graedler. “I also owe a lot to the Transfer Scholars Network program at BMCC. They set up zoom meetings with admissions officers and helped me send applications to more than a dozen colleges.”

SFAC Drawing Alphabets: 2024 BMCC Art Faculty Show Opens February 15
Shirley Fiterman Art Center will present Drawing Alphabets, the 2024 Art Faculty Show February 15 to March 23. The show, featuring work by faculty artists, provides viewers an opportunity to see the breadth of works produced in a range of mediums. This exhibition highlights the college’s continued commitment to its growing Music and Art department. Each artist will be spotlighted through a series of artwork images accompanied by an artist profile.

IT Update: Home Drive to be Replaced by BMCC OneDrive
The Office of Information Resources and Technology (IRT) is now migrating the faculty and staff home drive (H:) to BMCC OneDrive. To access OneDrive from a computer, faculty and staff are asked to follow instructions outlined here. To access OneDrive from a mobile device, instructions are outlined here. Faculty, Staff and Students: Update Your Microsoft Teams before March 31
The Office of IRT has announced that faculty, staff and students will be required to use Microsoft Teams by March 31. This update usually goes smoothly; however, some users may experience issues detailed here. A workaround released by Microsoft is to clear the client cache. Another option is to revert through March 31 to the previous Microsoft Teams version, following these instructions. Let Students Know: Wi-Fi Sign-In Process Has Changed 
Students are now required to use their full BMCC email address when signing into campus computers, Wi-Fi, the BMCC Portal and all other BMCC IT services requiring authentication. They will also need to use a different domain on their email addresses, changing from stu.bmcc.cuny.edu to bmcc.cuny.edu. Please note: When accessing their BMCC email, the domain will remain stu.bmcc.cuny.edu. Students can reach out to the Service Desk with questions, email userservices@bmcc.cuny.edu or stop by 199 Chambers Street, Room S-141, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. or Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Advisement and Registration

Spring 2024: There's Still Time to Get Advised and Register
It is not too late to register for the Spring 2024 semester. There are several opportunities for students to receive guidance and support with registration. During January 16-19, advisement and registration help will be offered online via Zoom. From January 22-26, help is available in person. From January 29-February 2, help is available via Zoom and in person. Students should visit the Panther Station webpage or contact Academic Advisement at (212) 220-8315 or aatc@bmcc.cuny.edu for more details.

Gender-Based Violence Training Joins ESPARC and WVP Mandated Trainings

  • The state- and CUNY-mandated Employee Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response Course (ESPARC) and Workplace Violence Prevention Training (WVP) are available for the 2023-2024 academic year. All part-time employees, including adjuncts, as well as full-time employees must complete both trainings by May 31.
  • The state- and CUNY-mandated Gender Based Violence Training (GBVT) is required for HR professionals and managers with at least one direct report. Full and part-time employees notified by email about GBVT must complete it by May 31.
  • Through April, Human Resources will host four prerecorded, two-hour ESPARC and WPV Zoom sessions. To schedule a Zoom training, contact Lori Mazzola at lmazzola@bmcc.cuny.edu
